Wear the Armor

Be STRENGTHENED in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10)

How do we strengthen ourselves in the Lord? (Ephesians 6:11-24)

  1. Be fully alert to the enemy (Ephesians 6:11-13)
  2. Be fully armed for conflict (Ephesians 6:14-17)
  3. Be fully committed in prayer (Ephesians 6:18-10)
  4. Be fully connected to other believers (Ephesians 6:21-24)

Main Idea: Be strengthened in Christ by putting on His full armor!

In Ephesians 6:10-24 we learn about cosmic evil. If you were to make a list of enemies that prompt spiritual warfare today, what would it include?

In Ephesians 6:10-24, what are “spiritual forces of evil” (6:12)? Review Ephesians 4:1-6:9 and what Paul said about unity (4:1-16), our new identity (4:17-5:14), marriage and family living (5:15-6:9). Why would Satan want to disrupt these things?

How do forces of evil influence our lives (see Ephesians 2:1-3, 14; 4:14, 17-19, 26-27; 5:3-18)? With what attitudes should we face these forces? What are the qualities of Satan and which one of these are most real in your experience?

Why does Paul tell us to “be strong in the Lord and His mighty power” (6:10) before telling us to “put on the full armor of God” (6:11-13)? How is being “strong” in Christ linked with wearing spiritual armor? How do we need to prepare ourselves to stand against the enemy?

Paul saw a similarity between the Roman soldier’s armor and the armor of God. How would you describe each piece of the spiritual armor?

  • Belt: – Shield:
  • Breastplate: – Helmut:
  • Shoes: – Sword:

How do these help you face the enemy?

Of the four ways to be strengthened in the Lord mentioned in this passage, which one is most helpful to you and why? How can you prepare for spiritual warfare today? As you consider wearing the armor, which pieces are in good shape for you and which need to be developed?

What can you learn from Paul’s model of prayer from Ephesians 1:15-23; 3:14-21; 6:18-20? Who could you invite to join you in praying for boldness in sharing Christ this week (6:19-20)?

ASSIGNMENT: Share your thoughts about Ephesians 6:21-24. How does it relate to your LIFE Group? How has your group helped you grow in Christ throughout the Ephesians series? How have you been encouraged? Memorize Ephesians 6:11-12 and pray for God’s help in battle.

Easter is just around the corner!  We see colorful eggs, delicious candy and cartoon bunnies everywhere, but the real meaning for celebration is often lost.

Let’s change that.
In the last two weeks, more than 6,000 invitations have gone out to our community through the Saturate bag deliveries inviting people to Stonebridge for Easter.  Will you join in this effort to invite people to hear and celebrate the true meaning of Easter?
