Hoarders!

January 20, 2019

Each  of us are GIVEN gifts

Sin conditions us to HOARD gifts

Christ shows us the PURPOSE of our gift

MAIN IDEA:  One result of the new life in Christ is the replacement of unhealthy storing with unlimited sharing

CONNECTING

What one thing spoke to your heart the most from the Word of God in these Scriptures?

Take an inventory of your life. Are you someone who holds on to things even if you aren’t using them? Why do you think so many people keep accumulating things that don’t seem to get used much?

UNDERSTANDING:

Read Ephesians 4:4-7 – What is Paul’s emphasis here on unity and unique design? Is the church just a collection of individuals, or is it more than that? If the unity of the church is also based on the unique giftings of the members, what does that mean about participation of each believer?

Read Ephesians 4:25-29 – Why does Paul give examples of replacing sinful behavior with new behaviors? What challenges do Christians face if their approach to church is just ‘trying to stop sinning?’

Read Ephesians 4:28 – What does Paul indicate repentance of sin actually looks like? What is the action that those who have been ‘thieves’ should take? What types of ‘stealing’ do we sometimes engage in that might not seem so bad?

LIVING:

Since God has given ‘gifts’ to his people to be used for the building up of the body (Eph 4:1-12), how should we view it when we aren’t sharing those gifts with other believers?

What is the danger of seeing church as something that is for us to consume, or take in for the purpose of us being ‘better Christians?’ What does Paul indicate is the actually catalyst for true spiritual growth? (Hint: Eph. 4:12)

What gifts/talents/abilities do you have that you aren’t currently sharing with others? What would be some practical steps to being sharing your gifts in a service environment with others?

At Stonebridge we believe disciples should always be growing in faith.  Growing means changing, learning, sharing, giving. And step by step blessing others along the way.  There are many options for your next step…NEXT STEPS
