“Grace Church” – A Series on Romans 12-16

The gospel of Christ not only brings good news of God’s grace for undeserving people, it also transforms the way we relate to each other and our world.

Obeying Jesus’ Great Command means we reflect Christ in the way we love others

Read: Romans 13:8-14

Put love into action!

We ____________ it to our neighbors (Romans 13:8-10).

IT IS _______________ TO LOVE (Romans 13:11-12).

WE ________ _________ AS CHRIST LOVES (Romans 13:13-14)

Five action steps to love as Jesus loves:

  • Mark 9:36-37
  • Mark 10:45
  • Mark 4:38
  • Mark 14:61
  • Galatians 6:1-3

Main Idea: God calls us to love as he loves through the strength of Jesus Christ.

Read Romans 13:8-14. Who in my realm of relationships is difficult to love? What makes it so hard to love them?

Pastor Robin took us through Romans 12:9-21 a couple of weeks ago. Are you consistently practicing what these verses teach, even when it is difficult? Why are why not?

Why does Paul say we should love our fellow human beings (Romans 13:8-10)?

How does the command to love in Romans 13:8-10 help us to understand how to put the ten commandments into action?

What two powerful motives does Romans 13:11-12 give us for putting love into action?

What does it mean to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 13:14)? What would change in your day if you imagined Jesus was right before you, and you clothed yourself with Christ?

Paul tells us to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” (13:14). Why is it difficult to consistently live and love as Jesus did? What needs to change in my life? How can I be more conscious of the Spirit’s empowerment for loving (Ephesians 5:15-17)?

Randy gave five ways to “put on Christ” and “not gratify our desires” (13:14). Review the five steps. Which one or two appeals to you the most? Which step will you take this week? To whom will you be accountable for following through on this step?

Assignment: How can you and Stonebridge Church be a blessing to our city and eastern Iowa? Talk with your family or group: If Stonebridge Church disappeared tonight, would the community around us notice?

We’ve all heard the phrase, “Time flies” and we know it’s true.  Our families are continually growing and changing.  At the end of our time, we want to look back and know that we spend our time in the best way – growing in our knowledge of and our love for Christ.
